Ozzie Albies sets Braves’ extra-base hits record for April

April 26, 2018
CINCINNATI —

Ozzie Albies made Braves history in the season’s first month.
His fifth-inning home run Thursday in Cincinnati was his 18th extra-base hit of April, setting a franchise record.
The second baseman homered to left field on the first pitch of the fifth inning Wednesday to tie the record.
Dale Murphy (1985), Chipper Jones (1998) and Justin Upton (2013) also accomplished the feat. Albies will have four more games to set the record.
The MLB record is 23, set by the Royals’ Jermaine Dye in 2000.
Albies, 21, is emerging as one of the more promising young talents in the game. He already has seven homers and a .606 slugging percentage, fourth highest in the National League.
